TOILE DU MARAIS is one of our most successful products in the book cloth sector and a pioneer when it comes to sustainability. This is also because it was one of the first products in its category to be FSC™-certified. The collection reflects the Parisian quarter «Le Marais». A synonym for French elegance, lifestyle and creativity. The subtle colour palette offers a variety of colours that represent a refined combination of modernity and universalism. It offers the French flair that ensures that our black is not just black but an ink black (noir d'encre), or our white is not just white but as white as snow (neige).

TOILE OCEAN is the first book cloth, that contains yarns derived from ocean bound plastic. After months of innovation, trials, hard work and patience, we launched a 100% recycled PET fabric in summer 2021. Since its launch a year ago, over a quarter of a million PET bottles have already been recycled. The product was developed in close cooperation with the Swiss start-up #tide ocean SA.

Every year, over 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the ocean. The company #tide has specialised in the recycling of ocean bound plastic. They collect and sort plastic waste in Southeast Asia, where it is a high pollution. The plastic waste is collected there by local employees, including many fishermen, with fair conditions and transported to Switzerland in a CO2-neutral way. The collected plastic waste is compressed into granules using a mechanical award-winning process and finally spun into yarn, which is the main component of TOILE OCEAN.

Unfortunately, in many places, clean drinking water is not given. This is why we invest 1% of TOILE OCEAN's turnover in projects for clean drinking water. In Uganda, our partner myclimate equips poorer households and institutions such as schools with new technologies for drinking water purification. More than 210,000 pupils benefit from the installed water filters. Thanks to the environmentally friendly technology, less firewood and charcoal is used, which in turn saves CO2. Waste is reduced in the schools because the pupils no longer have to bring plastic bottles. This climate protection project therefore pays several times over into a sustainable future. It improves the living conditions and health of thousands of people in Uganda.

The naturally mottled book cover fabric has a very high-quality touch and feel. TOILE OCEAN is woven from 100% recycled plastic waste and coated with water-based acrylic. This book cover fabric has a natural look and the feel. For the textile fabric, high-quality cotton and cellulose threads are used, which are 100% grown and cultivated in the EU.
